10 aspirants reject Borno guber primaries, calls for cancellation

The Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, Hon. Mustapha Baba Shehuri and nine other aspirants have called for outright cancellation of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries held in Brno State.


Addressing journalists in a Press Briefing in his Maiduguri residence on Tuesday, Shehuri alleged that Governor Kashim Shettima used the military and state resources to rigged the APC governorship primary in the state and called for the outright cancellations of the primacies
The Minister said: “The governor hijacked the electoral panel, he charted a private plane and flew in the electoral team from Abuja and picked up from the Maiduguri and conveyed to Government House in a state house vehicles and were lodged in Government House.”.

According to him, the Governor used a military officer in the rank of Brigadier General to stop them having access to the delegates in the name of curfew, while the Governor and aspirant s were freely moving in the night.

He called on all their supporters to remain peacefully, calm and orderly as they awaits the decision of the party headquarters.

He also called on the anti graft agencies and security operatives to probe how and where did Governor Shettima got the money he bought forms for 10 of his commissioners and political associates in other to compromise the process .
“We are also aware that the Governor is set to compromise all the other primaries including Debate, House of Representatives and particularly state House of Assembly, by this single act by the Governor, all these party faithful will be disenfranchised and will not have the opportunity to participate in a free, fair and credible primary,” the minister added.He therefore called on their supporters to remain peacefully, calm and orderly, as they awaits the decision of the party headquarters.

The aspirants that signed the petition calling for the cancelation includes, Hon. Baba Shehuri, Hon. Mohammed Kumalia , Alhaji Kashim Imam, Alhaji Gambo Lawan, Alhaji Idtis Durkwa, Tom Margira, Alhaji Abba Jatau, Alhaji Umar Alkali, Mohammed Liman and Ambassador Babs Ahmed Jidda.
