In a thrilling development ahead of the 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee has officially cleared seven aspirants to contest for the party’s ticket. The announcement was made on Monday, March 10, 2025, by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in a statement issued after the screening process.

The screening committee, which was chaired by the former Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema, confirmed that all seven aspirants had passed the rigorous screening. The aspirants now set to contest in the upcoming primary election, scheduled for April 5, 2025, include:

• Sir Paul Chukwuma
• Prof. Obiora Okonkwo
• Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu
• Mr. Chukwuma Umeoji
• Mr. Valentine Ozigbo
• Mr. Johnbosco Onunkwo
• Edozie Madu

The statement also revealed that one of the aspirants, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, had been granted a special waiver by the party, enabling him to contest in the primary despite certain procedural requirements.

“The party has issued Certificates of Clearance to all the aspirants today at the National Secretariat in Abuja,” Morka stated. “In particular, Valentine Chineto Ozigbo has been granted a waiver by the party to enable him to contest the primary election.”

In a move to ensure the strength and unity of the party in Anambra, Morka urged all APC members in the state—both old and new—to revalidate their membership ahead of the primary election. This step will reinforce the party’s grassroots support as it seeks to maintain its position and secure victory in the 2025 governorship race.

With the screening phase now concluded, these aspirants are gearing up for the highly anticipated primary election, where the party will ultimately choose its candidate for the state’s top job.
