"UNIPORT Final-Year Student Shocked by Father’s WhatsApp Status—But What She Saw Melted Hearts!"

Anita never thought much about her father’s WhatsApp status. Like most young people, she scrolled past his updates with a knowing smile, expecting the usual morning greetings and prayers he faithfully sent to his contacts. But today was different.

A single notification. A glimpse at her screen. And suddenly—her heart skipped a beat.

There, in simple, unfiltered words, was a love letter hidden in plain sight.

"Good morning, Ebenezer. I am so happy to be alive today and I am just in my shop selling. My daughter Anita Ezinne is in final year in UNIPORT, very big school. You are blessed my daughter."

She blinked. Read it again. And again.

A slow warmth spread through her chest. A mixture of pride, embarrassment, and something deeper—something almost sacred. Her father, in his own way, was celebrating her. Not with grand speeches. Not with flashy gestures. But with the raw, unpolished honesty of a man who loved his daughter fiercely and wanted the world to know it.

She laughed, shaking her head. Daddy, why na?

Little did she know, the world wasn’t laughing at him. They were falling in love with him.

The comments came in waves. Some laughed at the old-school charm of his words. Others marveled at how much he adored his daughter. And a few, the ones with hearts weighed down by loss, whispered silent prayers, wishing they still had a father to embarrass them this sweetly.

"I wish my parents were alive to be proud of me."

"No respect for parents again because they want to trend… Gen Z, what are you turning into?"

"The man is a whole mood! His DMs must be filled with 'Amen, Nna! God bless you!'"

Anita sighed, staring at the screen. She had posted it for fun, but now, something in her shifted.

Maybe, just maybe… she had taken his love for granted.

Some fathers shout their pride from the rooftops. Others write it in WhatsApp statuses. Either way, love is love.

And as Anita put down her phone, she made a mental note to call her father later. Not for anything urgent. Not because she needed something.

Just to say, Daddy, thank you.
