📰 Title: “From Protester to Patriot? Mr Macaroni Blasts Tinubu’s Aide Over Old Tweet Calling Jonathan a Fool”
Once a firebrand with fingers on the protest trigger — now a polished aide defending the throne.
But Twitter never forgets. And this time, neither did Mr Macaroni.
Social media exploded in drama and déjà vu as an old tweet from 2012 came back to haunt Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Social Media.
In the now-viral post, Dada didn’t hold back, referring to former President Goodluck Jonathan as “a fool and an idiot” — words that echoed from the peak of the #OccupyNigeria movement.
Fast forward to 2025, and the same man is now the digital gatekeeper of presidential pride, often slamming critics who dare question the current administration.
But someone wasn’t going to let it slide.
Enter Mr Macaroni — actor, activist, and fearless voice for the people. Quoting the ancient tweet like a mic drop from the gods of accountability, Macaroni wrote:
“This one too is now a Patriot o. Now if citizens rightfully criticize President Tinubu or call for Protests he will say the people are unpatriotic.
He is now an Emergency Lover of Nigeria because he is Special Assistant to another President he didn’t call a Fool and an Idiot.”
Boom. Internet: shattered.
Macaroni’s clapback struck a national nerve, reopening old wounds about double standards, political amnesia, and how power often polishes past radicals into present-day gatekeepers.
X (formerly Twitter) users weighed in hard:
💬 @nigertruth_: “They love Nigeria only when they’re in office. Before then, they drag it like broken gen.”
💬 @activistangel: “Mr Macaroni deserves a national award for consistency.”
💬 @cyberlawnaija: “Freedom of speech is patriotism — until you’re paid not to say anything.”
Now, Nigerians are asking:
Was Dada a patriot then — or is he a patriot now? Or has patriotism just become a matter of paycheck and position?

Is this hypocrisy or growth?
Should people be judged by their past tweets, or forgiven for evolving?
And most importantly… is patriotism only real when you’re not in power?
