Summoned by Shadows: The Bloodstained Path of Eid in Kano

The air in Kano was thick with the scent of festivity, but beneath the joyous veneer of Eid al-Fitr, a storm brewed unseen. The faithful had gathered in thousands, their voices rising in unison as they performed the sacred prayers. The sun hung high, casting its golden glare upon the grand procession led by the 16th Fulani Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Yet, what should have been a serene and jubilant occasion turned into a dance with death.

As the Emir’s entourage made its way through the swelling crowd, shadows lurked in the corners, their whispers lost amidst the beating drums and ululating cries of celebration. Then, like lightning splitting the sky, chaos struck.

A shriek pierced the air. Blood splattered onto the sacred soil of Kano. A man had fallen.

The victim, Surajo Rabiu, a vigilant protector sworn to shield the Emir, lay gasping, his lifeblood painting the streets crimson. His comrade, Aminu Suleman, staggered as the sharp edge of betrayal tore through his flesh. The attackers, faceless phantoms in the madness, slithered back into the anonymity of the panicked crowd. But the specter of their violence lingered, coiling like a serpent around the very fabric of the city’s peace.

The police moved swiftly. A name surfaced, pulled from the trembling lips of witnesses – Usman Sagiru, a mere youth of twenty, was apprehended, his hands still trembling from the echoes of his crime. But he was not alone. Others, still unseen, still lurking, had yet to be dragged into the searing light of justice.

Then came the summons.

The Kano State Police Command called upon a man of power and wisdom – Shamakin Kano, Alhaji Wada Isyaku. Was he a witness? A conspirator? Or merely a piece in a much larger puzzle of intrigue? The questions buzzed through the streets like angry hornets, stinging with uncertainty.

In a chilling declaration, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the voice of the law in Kano, made it clear – the era of unchecked chaos was over. The ban on Durbar was in full force. The hands of justice would seize any who dared disrupt the fragile peace of the city. The echoes of thuggery and lawlessness would be silenced once and for all.

But in the alleys of Kano, where secrets fester and truth is a commodity to be bartered, the real question remains – who truly holds the strings of this deadly dance? And will the next act of this sinister drama unfold in the light of justice or the darkness of vengeance?

The city waits. The world watches. And the shadows whisper their secrets still…
