✈️ Jet Feud: Sanwo-Olu’s Aide Blasts Rufai Over Claim Tinubu 'Ignored' Jonathan Rescue!

A media war has erupted after broadcaster Rufai Oseni slammed President Tinubu for allegedly failing to deploy a jet to rescue former President Goodluck Jonathan from the Guinea-Bissau crisis, only for a top Lagos official to fire back with "proof."

The rescue of former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan from the political turmoil in Guinea-Bissau—reportedly by the Ivory Coast government—has sparked a heated political row over the Nigerian Presidency’s priorities.

Nigerian broadcaster Rufai Oseni ignited the controversy, taking to his platform to criticize President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.1 Oseni specifically targeted the recent acquisition of a N150 billion presidential jet, arguing it showed a disregard for national interests.

🗣️ Rufai's Accusation: "Tinubu Bought Jet But Couldn’t Rescue Jonathan"

Rufai’s core accusation centered on the timing and expense of the presidential jet purchase versus the urgency of the diplomatic situation.

“The President of Nigeria recently bought N150 billion presidential plane... At least the President could have deployed one of the planes to help the former President,” Oseni posted, suggesting a failure of leadership and priority.

🥊 Sanwo-Olu’s Aide Hits Back: "This Is Bad. Learn To Calm Down."

The comment drew an immediate and sharp rebuke from Gboyega Akosile, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Akosile accused Oseni of spreading "misinformation or distorted reporting," stressing that true journalism requires deep investigation and balance.

To refute the claim, Akosile shared a video that allegedly showed the former President, Goodluck Jonathan, personally appreciating President Tinubu for sending an aircraft to rescue him from the country.

“The heart and soul of journalism is deeply rooted investigation, balanced reporting and not misinformation or distorted reporting. This is bad. Learn to calm down,” Akosile wrote in his public reaction.

❓ WHAT'S YOUR VERDICT?

Was Rufai Oseni right to question the government's priorities regarding the jet purchase and the rescue effort, or was Gboyega Akosile correct in accusing him of misinformation? Let us know in the comments!
