🔥 “He Signed It, I Proved It—Yet He Kept Quiet” — Adoke Accuses Obasanjo Over OPL 245, Demands Apology 🔥

Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, has reignited the explosive OPL 245 oil block controversy, accusing ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo of approving the revocation of the licence—and then refusing to apologise after documentary evidence was made public.

Speaking during the unveiling of his book, “OPL 245: The Inside Story of the $1.3bn Nigerian Oil Block,” Adoke alleged that the oil block was revoked in July 2001 and reassigned to Shell after its original owners refused to surrender a 60 percent stake to powerful interests.

According to Adoke, the battle over OPL 245 was a ruthless struggle involving high-profile individuals, describing it as a “dog-eat-dog” fight for oil wealth rather than a decision made in Nigeria’s best interest.

He directly challenged Obasanjo’s long-standing denial of involvement, insisting that the former president personally approved and signed off on the resolution agreement.

“He said if I could show proof, he would apologise. I published the documents. He never apologised,” Adoke said.

Taking a sharp swipe, Adoke suggested that Obasanjo’s denial bordered on selective memory, adding that the former leader acted irresponsibly and exercised poor judgment unbecoming of a statesman.

“He didn’t act in the best interest of Nigeria,” Adoke stated.

The former AGF, who was later discharged and acquitted of all charges linked to the OPL 245 saga under the Buhari administration, said all he seeks now is a public apology for the damage done to his name and reputation.

As the revelations stir fresh reactions, the OPL 245 case—once thought settled—has again exposed the murky intersection of power, oil, and politics in Nigeria.
