Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has firmly denied reports suggesting he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC). The rumours gained traction after the defection of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to the Social Democratic Party, leading to speculation about Fayemi’s plans to leave the party due to internal conflicts.
In a statement posted on his X handle, Fayemi put the rumours to rest, reaffirming his commitment to the APC. "I am a card-carrying foundation member of the APC, and this position has not changed," he wrote.
While he has been vocal about the need for greater internal democracy within the party, Fayemi expressed optimism that the APC could still resolve its issues and move towards more inclusivity.
What do you think about Fayemi’s stance on the APC? Do you believe the party can overcome its internal conflicts, or is it too late for change? Share your thoughts in the comments!
