Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, wife of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has dismissed viral reports claiming that her son, Nnamdi Kanu Jnr., won the title of Best Student in Mathematics and Science in a competition in the U.S.
The reports, which quickly spread across social media, suggested that Kanu Jnr. outshined competitors from nearly 30 countries, including China and England, in Georgia, USA. The story went on to praise his "exceptional IQ" and flawless performance in the competition.
However, Mrs. Kanu took to her verified Meta account to refute the claims, saying this is not the first time such a false story has circulated. She clarified that while the news is positive, the boy mentioned in the report is not her son, and the entire story is fabricated.
“I wish this brilliant boy or brilliant boys and their parents well,” Mrs. Kanu wrote, “but this hoax trended 2 or 3 years ago, and I debunked it then.”
Her message concluded with a light-hearted jab, “I wish the originator of this story had a better eyesight.”
