Former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has slammed his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, accusing him of disrespecting key political figures who played crucial roles in his rise to power. During a recent media chat, Wike expressed his disappointment, particularly over Fubara's treatment of respected elder statesman, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba.
Wike claimed that Alabraba, who is over 80 years old, played a pivotal role in Fubara’s selection as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate. Alabraba, passionate about an Ijaw man becoming governor, even shed tears in meetings, but Wike alleges that after Fubara assumed office, he insulted the same elder on national television.
“This boy went and abused this elder statesman... a man who made money long before he was born,” Wike fumed, also adding that Fubara had disrespected other prominent figures like OCJ Okocha and even removed Chief Sergeant Awuse from a political position while he was recovering from a coma. Wike labeled these actions as betrayals, suggesting that Fubara’s current political struggles could have been avoided had he maintained strong relationships with these key figures.
As tensions rise in Rivers State, Wike’s accusations have ignited widespread discussion on political loyalty and leadership. What are your thoughts on Fubara's treatment of these elders? Drop your comments below!
