In a powerful call for peace, elder statesman Jake Epelle has urged key figures in Rivers State, including Asari Dokubo and Tompolo, to refrain from taking actions that could escalate tensions in the state.
Epelle’s appeal came after the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, made a statement suggesting there would be no consequences if Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, were impeached. Reacting to the statement, Epelle emphasized the importance of settling differences peacefully and urged against any moves that could harm the people of Rivers State.
“I call on Asari Dokubo and Tompolo, who’ve made threats to return to the creek, not to let anyone push them to an edge,” Epelle said. “Rivers people are peaceful and resilient—let’s keep it that way.”
Epelle also cautioned against the calls for impeachment, reminding everyone that while people have the right to voice their opinions, it’s essential to consider the consequences on the state's peace and stability.
The ongoing political tensions in Rivers State have sparked heated discussions, with many wondering whether peace can be maintained amidst growing rivalries.
