Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, a former Presidential Adviser, has sparked a heated debate after rejecting Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual harassment claims against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Akpoti-Uduaghan recently accused Akpabio of blocking her motions about the Ajaokuta Steel Company because she refused his advances.

Appearing on Arise TV, Ita-Giwa strongly disagreed with Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations, stating that once women become senators, they should be beyond the reach of sexual harassment. According to her, by the time women reach the Senate, they are no longer vulnerable and must stand as equals to their male counterparts. She also added that accusing someone of sexual harassment at that level of politics reflects weakness.

"Once you are elected into the Senate, you have passed the stage of being sexually harassed. You go there to serve, and you are equal to everyone else," Ita-Giwa said. "To claim harassment is a sign of weakness."

Her controversial comments have sparked a storm on social media, with many questioning whether women in politics should be expected to tolerate such behavior or whether these allegations should be taken more seriously.

What do you think? Is it a weakness for female senators to speak out about sexual harassment, or should their voices be heard? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
