Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu, claiming the security crisis has worsened under his watch and that a warning from President Donald Trump was the only thing that forced Tinubu to show 'empathy.'

The rising tide of insecurity sweeping across Nigeria has drawn fierce criticism from Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo, who claims President Tinubu is clearly operating without a plan to tackle the crisis, which he argues has reached unprecedented levels.

🚨 Scale of Attacks: An Unprecedented Crisis

Okonkwo pointed to a relentless wave of violence under the current administration, including the tragic killing of a Brigadier General and his team in Borno, alongside mass kidnappings of students, worshippers, farmers, and villagers spanning Zamfara, Kebbi, Kwara, Sokoto, and Niger States.

He argued that Tinubu, having been in office for nearly three years, has demonstrated a clear lack of strategy, stating the current scale of insecurity is unlike anything Nigeria has experienced.

🇺🇸 Trump’s 'Threat' and 'Pretended Empathy'

Okonkwo claimed that a rumored warning from President Donald Trump—suggesting he might send American troops to protect Nigerians if the mass killings continued—was the only thing that spurred the Nigerian leader to action.

"The threat shook Tinubu to his bones and for the first time, he pretended to show empathy," Okonkwo alleged, claiming this led to the President cancelling international trips, something he had reportedly never done before, even after major domestic attacks.

📢 The Solution: State Police

Okonkwo criticized the government's current methods, including withdrawing security details from VIPs and "speaking nicely" to terrorists, arguing that these actions only embolden criminals.

He insisted the only viable path to peace is through constitutional amendment to establish State Police. He believes this would rapidly increase the number of trained officers and leverage local knowledge for faster, more effective response times.

❓ WHAT'S YOUR VIEW?

Do you agree with Kenneth Okonkwo that the current insecurity crisis is the worst Nigeria has seen and that State Police is the only way forward? Or do you believe the government is doing enough to address the situation? Share your opinion!
