The Price of Truth – A Corps Member’s Battle Against Power

Title: The Price of Truth – A Corps Member’s Battle Against Power

The video was never meant to go viral. At least, that’s what Ada thought when she hit the "post" button on TikTok. Frustrated, hungry, and tired of the silence, she had spoken from the heart.

"Tinubu, you are a terrible person. What are you doing to help our economy?" she had asked, her voice laced with desperation. Prices were soaring, transportation costs were crippling, and Nigerians were suffering. Someone had to say it.

But within hours, her phone buzzed non-stop. Messages flooded in—some supporting, others condemning. Then came the real threat. A summons from the NYSC office. The message was clear: Retract the statement or face consequences.

Fear gripped her. Would she be expelled? Arrested? Worse?

Then, an unexpected lifeline. Mr. Macaroni, the fearless skit maker known for standing up to oppression, called out the NYSC on social media. "You cannot threaten, intimidate, or victimize any corper for speaking the truth!" he declared. His voice was soon joined by Omoyele Sowore, a man who had spent years battling the system.

"Saying Tinubu is terrible is not an insult—it’s a fact!" Sowore thundered online.

The tides shifted. Nigerians picked sides. The debate exploded. Some called Ada a hero, others branded her reckless. But one question remained—would she back down, or would she stand her ground against the system?

The nation watched. The government listened. And Ada? She had started a storm that could not be ignored.
