Fani-Kayode Attacks Tinubu Over Comment On Herdsmen Attacks
Controversial former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has slammed National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for blaming herdsmen attacks across Nigeria on water scarcity and climate change.
Tinubu had made the comment at a nation summit on conflict resolution in Abuja on Monday.
The summit organised by The Nation and TV Continental, was themed, ‘Towards an Enduring Peace’.
The former Lagos governor, who was represented by an Executive Commissioner of the Nigerian Communications Commission , Sunday Dare, noted that the herdsmen crisis was not caused by religious or political differences but by water scarcity.
Tinubu said, “An acutely thirsty man remembers neither Bible nor Quran very well until his thirst is quenched . Dire need often pushes a man to behave as if bereft of compassion for a person in equally dire circumstance.
“No doubt the problem has exacerbated during the past decade . We must assume climate change plays a role.”
But Fani-Kayode, a fierce critic of the APC administration, took exception to Tinubu’s theory, describing it as “a pernicious and disingenious lie”.
The ex-minister, who took to his verified Twitter handle to counter Tinubu’s postulation, said, “To claim that the genocidal agenda of the herdsmen is due to water scarcity, climate change or the drying up of River Chad is a pernicious and disingenious lie.
“The attempt to cover up the motive and identity of those who indulge in mass murder and ethnic cleansing is despicable.”
