We are wrong about Atiku and Obasanjo – APC Chieftain

Ahead of the 2019 presidential election, the two leading parties, All Progressive Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party have been attacking each other on different grounds, but a former presidential aspirant, who is a Chieftain of the APC has said the party are wrong on Atiku and Obasanjo.

 Charles Udo Udeogaranya

A former presidential aspirant and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Charles Udeogaranya  has described as wrong and a serious breach of constitutional rights of a citizen, the ascribing of corrupt tag on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar by APC  when no court of law has found him guilty on corruption charges.

He said if he (Atiku) was convicted, he would have  been constitutionally unfit to run for the presidential office. According to Udeogaranya, “any comment, slogan or official statement ascribing to Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar, his ambition and his political party with erroneous and defaming corruption tag as a political weapon in a political contest is not only criminal but also treasonable.

Hence, it can be determined that his candidacy holds substantial potency of forming Nigeria’s next government. “I also find it regrettable and ungracious, that a foremost nationalist and former President, Chief Olusegeun Obasanjo, who brought democracy to Nigerians in the Second Republic and doggedly supported the current administration of Muhammadu Buhari in coming to power in 2015 should be disparaged with the tag of hypocrite by the APC  for merely expressing his choice of support in 2019 presidential election and reviewed opinion that corrected the fantastic error of thought he had on Atiku Abubarkar.

“The APC should without delay tender a national apology and pledge to be of good behaviour during the 2019 campaign trail.”
